Welcome to Chowchilla in Madera County

Chowchilla, located just north of the Highways 99 & 152 interchange “open for business” to visitors with local and national brand restaurants and lodging, as well as hidden shopping gems.  Year-round youth sporting events are available for the sports enthusiast as well as golfing for both the young and young-at-heart. Fun events like the annual Chowchilla Stampede celebrate the town's heritage, featuring a cattle drive down Robertson Blvd. Chowchilla is also the site for the annual County Fair, boasting well known performers and a lot of fun. Chowchilla's main attraction is the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera. See the preserved remains of animals for 700,000 years ago like Colombian Mammoths, Sabre-toothed cats and the largest bear to ever walk the Earth, the 12-foot tall Shortfaced Bear.
