Winter is a special time in Yosemite and California's Gateway to Yosemite.
If you're looking to experience snow, then Madera County has it! The high country has ample opportunities, from skiing, snowboarding and tubing at Badger Pass, sleigh rides or ice skating at Tenaya Lodge www.tenayalodge.com/Winter-Activities.aspx, you'll make lifelong memories with your family during the winter months.
|Of course Yosemite is amazing in the winter. The meadows covered in a blanket of pristine snow, the way the clouds hug the cliffs all contrasted beneath a brilliant blue sky creates some amazing vistas. Photographers clamor to the park this time of year, as they're able to get some of the most breathtaking shots. The park is much less busy this time of year, allowing you to feel alone as you take in the beauty of Yosemite in the winter.|
On the other hand, if you're looking to escape the snow where you live, Madera County offers the perfect chance for that as well. Tour the wineries of the Madera Wine Trail, visit Home Grown Cellars to try fresh pomegranate juice or take in the beauty of the butterfly house. The heat will be on at the Fossil Discovery Center - if it's even needed.
If you're looking to find winter, or to escape, Madera County has you set.
