California Restaurant Month - January

Visit Yosemite | Madera County is proud to participate each January in California Restaurant Month!

Madera County is located at the South Gate entrance to Yosemite National Park and just as the views are breathtakingly delicious, so are the dining options throughout Madera County. It is one of the best places in the nation to obtain farm to table food as Madera County is one of the richest agriculture hubs in the United States. This also sets us apart from other tourist-heavy mountain towns. Our restaurants feature five-star modern American dining, mouthwatering hamburgers, authentic Mexican, and Italian restaurants that transport you to Italy. The variety is as diverse as the food is delicious and as the season changes as do the menus, offering some of the nation's best food that brings in locals and tourists alike.

Please help us feed a very hungry fellow named Chase Ramsey the official California Dream Eater.  To help us feed Chase, when you are dining at any of our restaurants, send a photo of your entire meal via Instagram and hashtag #DreamEats #CaliforniaDreamEater #madgro .  We understand he is looking for a road trip and we would love to host him in our region.

South Gate Brewing Company and Idle Hour Winery | Oakhurst, CA

Join South Gate Brewing Company and Idle Hour Winery on Thursday, January 10th, for an unforgettable four course meal, prepared by Chef Mike Farr, served in South Gate Brewing Company’s beautiful dining room.

Anna Marie dos Remedios, of Idle Hour Winery, is an award-winning winemaker who recently returned to her Oakhurst winery from France, where she made her wine this 2018 harvest season! During this unique wine dinner, we will be tasting wines made in Chinon, in addition to her own Cabernet Franc and another new surprise Idle Hour release, made right here in Oakhurst. The historic town of Chinon is on the banks of the Vienne River about 6 miles from where it joins the Loire. It is well known for its wine, castle, and historic town. Carved into the banks of the Vienne River, and open to public visits, are the caves, or wine cellars, for Chinon's well-known Cabernet Franc-based red wines.

Casey and Lindsay, of South Gate Brewing Co, joined Anna in France in October, where they met the Bertrand and Pierre Couly Family, the winemakers in Chinon with whom Anna was working. Anna, Casey and Lindsay will be sharing their stories and knowledge of the area, while pouring the fine wine they brought back with them.

Space is limited and reservations are required. Tickets will go on sale soon but save the date. Menu to be announced.  Click here to receive event updates.

South Gate Brewing Company | Oakhurst, CA

Brewmaster, Rick Boucke, at South Gate Brewing in Oakhurst introduced a Yuzu IPA for California Restaurant Month.  This brew is made with a Yuzu puree, a tart citrus fruit that resembles the cross between a grapefruit and a mandarin orange.  Well the Yuzu IPA was quite a hit and is all now gone.  But don't despair, Rick is offering up the Easy Ryder IPA as a great brew to wrap up California Restaurant Month with.  It is a smooth, unfiltered IPA with big citrus and tropical notes.  The prefect touch of rye malt gives this beer a unique, silky mouthfeel. Brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Crystal hops. 7.2 % abv
