The museum is located at the Fairmead landfill in Madera County, the site of one of the largest middle-Pleistocene fossil excavations in North America.   The museum showcases the fossilized remains of saber-toothed cats, Colombian Mammoths and other massive animals that once roamed the San Joaquin Valley over 700,000 years ago.
