Backpack to Half Dome: Through-Hike via Clouds Rest with the Yosemite Conservancy

Experience the Yosemite Wilderness and summit two iconic landmarks during a three-day guided backpacking trip.

Join us for a Yosemite challenge unlike any other: Hike to Clouds Rest and Half Dome during a three-day, two-night backpacking adventure with an experienced Yosemite naturalist. The trip begins with a Thursday-evening get-together in Yosemite Valley, where you’ll review the route, safety tips and Leave No Trace ethics. On Friday morning, your group will use public transportation to head up to Sunrise Lakes Trailhead, on Tioga Road, and hike a few miles before setting up camp for the night. On Saturday, ascend to the summit of Clouds Rest, bask in the magnificent 360-degree view, then descend the other side to camp near a creek. On Sunday, get an early start to ascend Half Dome via the cable route, or spend your morning relaxing at camp and exploring the surrounding area. In the afternoon, head back down to the Valley with your guide and fellow adventurers to wrap up a memorable weekend. Throughout the weekend, your trip leader will share stories about the park’s fascinating history, wildlife, flora and geology, and you’ll have ample opportunities to photograph your scenic surroundings. For both the Clouds Rest and Half Dome climbs, you’ll leave your backpack safely below and hike up with only a day pack, leaving you free to focus on the experience without extra weight on your shoulders!
