Women's Backpack to Amelia Earhart and Volgelsang Peaks with the Yosemite Conservancy

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment on a women’s backpacking trip.

Spend a weekend in Yosemite’s high country tackling a challenging, rewarding backpacking trip with a group of fellow adventurous women and an experienced naturalist guide. Along the trail rejoice in women gaining the right to vote 100 years ago! You’ll depart from Tuolumne Meadows on Friday morning for a full day of hiking through beautiful Lyell Canyon to the Ireland Lake area.  On Saturday, you can choose your activity: Relax at camp, or head up to the summit of Amelia Earhart Peak — one of only two Yosemite mountains named after a woman. On Sunday, drink in the views of features such as Vogelsang Peak and Evelyn Lake, as you hike back out to Tioga Road on the Rafferty Creek Trail. Throughout the weekend, you’ll learn about the natural and cultural history of Yosemite’s high country. Whether or not you bag the peak, you’ll get to enjoy the satisfaction of a long hike, and the unforgettable experience of a summer trek in the Sierra.
