Yosemite Renaissance 37 ~ Art Exhibit

Yosemite Renaissance 37 - Painting by Lura Smith-Fish For Dinner

WELCOME TO YOSEMITE RENAISSANCE 37

YOSEMITE RENAISSANCE ENCOURAGES ARTISTS TO SHARE THEIR EXPRESSIONS OF YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK AND THE CALIFORNIA SIERRA NEVADA.

The nexus of the exhibit is Yosemite, but the scope of the show is much wider. The California Sierra Nevada range is home to three national parks, twenty wilderness areas, and two national monuments. The scope of the show includes Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon, Sierra National Forest, Ansel Adams Wilderness, Lake Tahoe Mono Lake, Bodie, the White Mountains, regional foothills, and regional communities. The area is huge, consisting of hundreds of thousands of acres of rugged peaks, deep valleys, forests, chaparral, deserts, lakes and streams. If your work is inspired by these places, it will be considered.

Yosemite Renaissance was founded in 1985 to "motivate artists to develop diverse interpretations of Yosemite and its varied landscapes."

For over 150 years, artists have played an important role in the establishment of our state and national parks, inspiring people to visit iconic natural sites, and to protect our natural resources. Yosemite Renaissance is dedicated to this ideal.

For 2022, Yosemite Renaissance opens in Oakhurst at Gallery 5 in the Yosemite Gateway Art Center on Friday, March 18th, 2022 with a gala reception and presentation of awards from 5-8 PM.  The exhibit will be open at Gallery 5 through May 29th.  It then travels to other locations in the region.  A timeline can be found here
