"Honoring Our Past," currently on display at the Yosemite Gateway Art Center, is EXTENDED to August 15! This show benefits local organizations that make this an awesome place to live!
Mary Beth will be giving an artist's talk on Sunday, August 14 at 2:00, where you can hear the details about the paintings and the history of the scenes.
Honoring Our Past features 12 original oil paintings by local artist, Mary Beth Harrison. Each painting showcases a scene from local history – Bass Lake, downtown North Fork, Yosemite National Park, and more. Harrison brings early black and white photos of our area to life in vibrant, colorful oil paintings. In each creation she seeks to honor those who came before us to lay the foundation for the area we now call home.
Harrison says, “It is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to live in the Sierra foothills and create art that reveals my love for the area. Each painting honors a point in time and the people that lived in and loved the Sierras as I do. My hope is that these paintings will inspire viewers to appreciate and protect this special place.” Harrison will be donating her profits from the sale of each painting to local charities and community organizations.
