Day Hike: Wildflower Walk

Poppy flowers coving a canyon hillside in Hites Cove.

Day Hike: Wildflower Walk

Sunday, March 29th, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

in the Merced River Canyon, El Portal

Participants are invited to celebrate spring in the Sierra Nevada on a guided day hike just outside of Yosemite, where wildflowers blanket the hillsides during this vibrant season. This one-day adventure explores the Merced River Canyon in El Portal, west of the park along Highway 140, where brilliant early-season wildflowers come into bloom.

Along the way, hikers can enjoy and photograph sweeping displays of vibrant orange poppies and purple lupine covering the slopes above the rushing Merced River. A knowledgeable naturalist guide helps participants spot smaller, easily overlooked blooms and learn how to identify a variety of native plant species.
