Yosemite Field School: Yosemite Valley Geology

Friday, April 17th, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park

Yosemite Valley’s remarkable rock formations are among the park’s most recognizable features. On this guided adventure, participants explore the ancient forces that created iconic landmarks such as Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, El Capitan, and more with National Park Service Geologist Dr. Greg Stock. He shares the inside story behind Yosemite’s peaks, domes, and cliffs, including how glaciation sculpted the Valley’s massive walls and how ongoing rockfalls continue to shape the landscape.

This experience invites participants to bring their scientific curiosity and rock-related questions while gaining a deeper understanding of one of the world’s most dramatic natural environments.
