For over 54 years, The Golden Chain Theatre in Oakhurst has been the home of live theatre for Yosemite's Southern Gateway. What started as a tourist attraction that put on exclusively 19th-century historic melodramas has changed and grown into an organization that puts on a wide variety of shows every season; from large production musicals such as "Annie", "Peter Pan" and "A Christmas Carol" to small ensemble dramas like "The Wardrobe, "Savannah Sipping Society", and "Steel Magnolias"... just about everything in between. And yes, melodramas still are part of every season's line-up (so there's still that opportunity boo and hiss the evil villain, sigh for the poor heroine, and cheer the hero!  It's always guaranteed to be great family entertainment!

During much of 2020, live performances on stage with patrons in the theatre have not been able to be put on. GCT has continued to produce live content and that can be found regularly on their Facebook page
