Madera County Museum Open House

Madera County Museum Open House

Madera County Museum

September 27, 2025

11:00 PM - 2:00 PM

The Madera County Museum at 210 W. Yosemite Avenue in Madera will hold a free Open House, following the conclusion of the annual Old Timers Day Parade in Madera.

The Open House will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Madera County Historical Society.

Special displays will showcase what life was like in Madera and in the United States when the Historical Society was founded in 1955. Many docents will be dressed in pioneer clothing.

The Museum won "gold" (first place) in this year's Best of Central California contest in the categories of "Best Museum" and "Best Place to Volunteer." It won "bronze" (third place) in the category of "Best Attraction."

The Museum has about 21,000 historical items on three floors. It is inside the old County Courthouse, which began construction in 1900. The courthouse was burned by an arsonist on Christmas Eve 1906 and rebuilt soon after.
