Madera County’s Vya Sweet Vermouth Earns Best of Class Honors at Largest North American Wine Competition

MADERA, CA, January 24, 2024 - Vya Sweet Vermouth, made by Quady Winery, earned Best of Class accolades at the 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC), the largest wine competition in North America with an increasing global presence.

More than 5,700 wines were submitted to the competition from more than 1,000 wineries throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Quady Winery’s Vya Sweet Vermouth was awarded the Best of Class honor in the Distilled/Fortified category, with eight additional Quady wines earning medals in their respective categories.

“It’s thrilling to win best-of-class accolades for Vya Sweet Vermouth,” said Darin Peterson, head winemaker at Quady Winery. “Making vermouth is an arduous process, but it’s a lot of fun as well. And it’s super gratifying to see all of the team’s hard work rewarded.”

The SFCWC has been one of the most well-respected and highly publicized wine competitions since its inception 24 years ago, offering wineries of all sizes the opportunity to showcase their wines on a greater scale.

In addition to this year’s award for Vya Sweet Vermouth, Quady wines have earned Best of Class honors from the SFCWC during its previous four wine competitions: Elysium Black Muscat (2023),  Red Electra Moscato (2022) and Starboard Batch 88 (2021, 2020). The 2024 competition also garnered Double Gold medals for Quady Elysium Black Muscat and Starboard Batch 88, and Gold medals for Quady Essensia Orange Muscat and Electra Moscato Rosé.
