In the High Sierra, the snow is glistening. While in the valley, falls are flowing... walkin’ in a winter wonderland. Although most consider visiting Yosemite only during the warm months, they couldn’t be more wrong. All four seasons provide something special, and when it comes to winter, there’s A LOT to see and do that aren’t possible any other time of year. Here’s our favorite things to do in Yosemite during the holidays.

Learn more about the dinner

Thought up by Yosemite legend Ansel Adams and inspired by Washington Irving’s 1820 tale - The Sketch Book, it’s all about Christmas Day at Bracebridge Hall. This event gives you the opportunity to head back in time to medieval England and experience Christmas how it was in the 1820’s. The Bracebridge Dinner, held at the Ahwahnee Hotel, has been celebrated since 1927. These dinners feature over a hundred cast members that portray the Squire and his family, their servants, the Lord of Misrule and minstrels. This well-kept secret occurs through December 22nd and is a highly entertaining three-hour multi-course dining experience that should be on your bucket list.

Learn more about the Curry Village Rink

Typically open by mid-November through March, this is yet another long-standing winter tradition that’s been around since 1928. The Curry Village Ice Rink is now back at its original location right under the view of the majestic Half Dome and Glacier Point. For those that are less inclined to skate, there’s also fire pits next to the rink so you can enjoy roasting marshmallows and eating s’mores while the young ones glide around the amazing rink.

Learn more about the Gingerbread House Workshop >> (November) (December)

In the peaceful surroundings of Yosemite National Park, every year the Tenaya Lodge hosts a gingerbread house workshop. A longtime favorite of the Tenaya Lodge, it's your chance along with your kiddos to build that dream Gingerbread House you’ve always wanted. And the best part is each gingerbread house purchased comes with a raffle ticket for a chance to win fun and festive prizes.

On the surface, you may not think Yosemite National Park is an ideal Holiday destination, but as you can see, it is! This is THE time to visit and find some peace, solitude, sight see, and of course, experience Yosemite's holiday and Christmas traditions.
